One Room Challenge – Week 1

I am so excited to announce I am going to be a GUEST PARTICIPANT in the One Room Challenge. I cannot believe the first week is here! I have been dreaming about this since I watched it in the Spring of 2021.

Go check out the One Room Challenge Blog here. There are so many talented designers participating this fall.

After much debate, I have decided to tackle my Living Room. I have been avoiding this room because it has a two story ceiling, a loft opening, second story windows, no fireplace AND it is open to the eating and kitchen areas. I have no idea how I am going to tie everything together but here we go…

I have set a budget of $1000. That includes all materials and the scaffold tower rental I will inevitably have to do to reach these 18 foot ceilings.

I started this week with a blank canvas and NO IDEA what I was going to do.

The flooring in this house was nothing I would have chosen but it is a huge undertaking to change so I will need to work with it.

First stop was to my beloved local second hand building materials yard. This is where I was hoping to get my inspiration.

AND I DID!!! Look what I found?

A pallet of Thin Brick. I have enough to do 3/4 of a wall. And I bought a ceiling fan. Now to figure out what to do with the rest of the room. This is a good start though.

Next week, we are going to hang the fan and have the room cleared out to start prepping for whatever the heck I decide to do. 🙂 Check back next Thursday for a Week 2 update!
