One Room Challenge – Week 8

I am so honored to have been a GUEST PARTICIPANT in the One Room Challenge this fall. I cannot believe the final week is here! This room is so much more than I thought it was going to be. We have a long way to go but I am super proud of what we have accomplished so far.

Go check out the One Room Challenge Blog here. There were so many talented designers this fall and some crazy reveals this week.

This challenge was such a fun adventure for us. We started with a blank slate and we were able to transform it into a cozy room is the focal point of our living space. It is crazy to think 2 months ago we didn’t even have a vision for this space. As with all our DIYs, it happened very organically. We let the materials we were able to find dictate the project. No mood board, no initial vision, just a plan to renovate the room ‘somehow’.

Finding the brick at our secondhand building materials yard was really set the project in motion. From there is was a fun and unexpected journey with a beautiful outcome that I know our family will enjoy.

The room is far from done. Along the way, I also picked up a fireplace and a few other pieces so stay tuned for phase 2 of this room. We hope to have the room fully completed by Christmas. Can we do it?

As always, people want to know budget. Here is a breakdown of what we spent. I used lots of coupons and discount codes and bargaining to get the materials as cheaply as we could. I think we did pretty well for such a massive room. It helped that we owned scaffolding and a few other key tools.
